Stainless Steel 904L Hollow Bar is a high-alloy, low-carbon austenitic stainless steel that includes nickel (23–28%), chromium (19–23%), molybdenum (4–5%), copper (1–2%), and iron (the balance), along with trace amounts of carbon, manganese, and silicon. This unique composition offers remarkable resistance to strong reducing acids, chloride attack, and stress corrosion cracking. On the mechanical side, it boasts a tensile strength of about 490 MPa, a yield strength of 220 MPa, and an elongation of 35%, ensuring excellent toughness, weldability, and formability, even in challenging industrial and marine settings.

SS 904L differs from other stainless steels by its high resistance to corrosion, especially in acidic environments. It contains added copper, making it more resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking compared to standard stainless steel alloys.
SS 904L stainless steel consists of approximately 24-26% chromium, 19-23% nickel, 4-5% molybdenum, 1-2% copper, and small amounts of manganese, silicon, and carbon. The copper enhances corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic environments, while maintaining high strength.
The typical diameter range for SS 904L hollow bars varies from 10 mm to 300 mm, although custom sizes can be manufactured. These bars are available in various wall thicknesses, depending on specific application requirements and industry standards.
Stainless Steel 904L Hollow Bars are extensively utilized in industries that demand superior corrosion resistance and structural reliability. Typical applications include equipment for chemical and petrochemical processing, heat exchangers, piping systems, and pharmaceutical machinery that are exposed to acidic or chloride-rich environments. In the marine sector, they are employed for propeller shafts, seawater cooling systems, and desalination plants, thanks to their exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Moreover, 904L Hollow Bars are also found in oil and gas refineries, food processing facilities, and the paper and pulp industries, where long-lasting durability and cleanliness are crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and safety.
