Stainless Steel 431 Hollow Bar is a martensitic, high-chromium steel that contains about 15–17% chromium, 1.25–2.5% nickel, and a maximum of 0.20% carbon, along with small amounts of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. It boasts remarkable strength, hardness, and moderate resistance to corrosion. This alloy shows a tensile strength of around 850–1000 MPa, a yield strength of about 600 MPa, and good impact toughness. With a Rockwell hardness rating of 30–40 HRC, SS 431 maintains excellent mechanical stability even under high stress and temperature conditions.

The primary alloying element in Stainless Steel 347 is niobium (Nb), which stabilizes the material against carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature exposure. This enhances its resistance to intergranular corrosion and improves its overall high-temperature strength.
Stainless Steel 347 is most suitable for applications in the temperature range of 800°C to 1500°F (427°C to 815°C). This range allows it to maintain its strength, corrosion resistance, and stability, particularly in high-temperature environments like furnaces.
Typical dimensions of a Stainless Steel 347 flat bar range from 0.25 inches (6 mm) to 6 inches (150 mm) in thickness and 1 inch (25 mm) to 12 inches (300 mm) in width. Custom sizes are also available.
Stainless Steel 431 Hollow Bars find their place in various industries that demand high strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance. You’ll often see them used in the manufacturing of pump shafts, valve components, marine hardware, aircraft parts, and turbine blades. Their excellent machinability and resistance to seawater and mild chemicals make them popular in the oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation sectors. These bars are perfect for applications that face both mechanical stress and corrosive environments, making them a dependable choice for precision engineering, automotive components, and structural equipment in challenging working conditions.
